Mary Louise Gilson Gay, 95, of Loveland, Colorado, completed her baptismal journey on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She was born October 27, 1920, in Taunton, Massachusetts to Forrest and Marguerite Gilson. She married William Frank Gay on December 27, 1945. They are once again united.
Mary served proudly in the Navy during World War II as secretary to the base Commander in Norman, OK. She was a member of the Eastern Star and it was through this that she met her husband of 67 years. She worked as a Teacher’s Aid in the Florida school system before retiring in 1985. After retirement, she spent much of her time cooking and baking for the “older folks” in the neighborhood and knitting beautiful scarves and bedspreads. She was a courageous woman, though she did not realize it. She was well loved by her family, friends, St. Francis family and care providers at Good Samaritan Village and at Seven Lakes Memory Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, brother, Colby Gilson, sister, Elizabeth Karnes, son-in-law, Howard Hecht and nephew, Mark McIntyre. She is survived by her children: daughter Richalie Hecht; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Kurt Bloom; son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Jill Gray; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Bob McIntyre; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Betty Gilson, sister-in-law Bonnie Quinn and numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss her.
A funeral mass and burial service will be arranged on a later date, when family can be present.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, 3480 St. Francis Way, Estes Park, CO 80517
