Melanie Ann Strayer

Melanie Strayer of Greeley died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her home. She was born October 25, 1957 in Greeley, Colorado to Clarence James and Tylene La Mae (Horn) Schmidt. She graduated from Valley High School in 1976 and received her certificate in early childhood education from Community College of Denver in 1981.

Melanie married Hugh Myers in 1978 and later divorced. In 1986, she married Robert Strayer. She worked at several preschools in the Denver area before becoming a full time homemaker. She enjoyed keeping up with the latest technologies and doing crafts with her granddaughter, Chloe, the joy of her life. She was a supportive, loving wife, mother and grandma. She was a lifetime member of the LaSalle Community Church.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Strayer; son, Cody Myers (Bonnie), granddaughter, Chloe Myers, and grandson, Dalton Langley; two sisters, Valerie Hiller (Greg) and Heidi (Jeff) Spear, nephew Orrin Williams and niece Hannah Spear. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
