A proud graduate of Highland High School in Ault, Mykalah continued her education at IBMC College, taking online classes even during times of hospitalization. Her dedication to learning and self-improvement reflected her remarkable determination and strength.
Throughout her life, Mykalah faced numerous health challenges and transplants, yet she met each day with grace, courage, and an unshakable positive spirit. She never complained, even through pain and uncertainty, and served as a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Her warmth and resilience touched lives across the country.
Mykalah worked as an Insurance Authorization Specialist for Associates in Family Medicine, UCHealth, and Family Physicians, where she was known for her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to helping others. Even after her health prevented her from working, her caring nature continued to shine through in every relationship she nurtured.
During her journey, Mykalah became very close to the transplant team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The doctors, nurses, and CNAs of the Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU) went above and beyond to care for her, and over time, they became like family.
Mykalah is survived by the love of her life, Alex Lozano; her mother, Kari Ivy; sisters, Krista Johnson (Milan) and Erika Romero (TJ Lucero); her brother, Josh Romero (Amber); nieces, Jasmine (Christian), Rayleah, and Lilly; nephew, Ezaiah; great-niece, Naliyah; great-nephew, Makaio; mother-in-law, Kori Lopez; father-in-law, Mario Lozano; and her grandma, Kathy.
