Nadine Mae Hunter, 88, of Greeley, CO, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. Born December 24, 1932, in Windsor, to George and Marie Schnell, she was the only child of six to be born in a hospital. Nadine graduated from Windsor High School in 1950 and went to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, where she met and married Robert L. Hunter in 1955. After raising two children, Debra and Ronald, Nadine worked seasonally at the University of Northern Colorado, Joslin’s Department Store, and the Great Western Sugar Company.
Nadine and Bob loved to go camping with friends and family up the Poudre Canyon and Chambers Lake with their fifth-wheel trailer. Nadine was an excellent cook and enjoyed teaching her family how to make traditional German food and canning vegetables and jellies. She was also an active member at her church, Our Savior's Lutheran, and loved playing bridge, marbles, and cards.
Surviving are her children, Debra (Dave) Umland, of Windsor and Ronald Hunter of Greeley; grandchildren, Christopher Hunter of Iowa, Brianne Hunter of Fairplay, Amanda Hunter of Greeley, Sara Umland of Windsor, Seth Hunter of Greeley, and Samantha Umland of Windsor; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Mildred Thomas of Lakewood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Hunter, her sisters, Isabell Lancaster, Doris Stroman, Wilmetta Foos, and brother, Marvin Schnell.
Visitation will be held on May 13, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave, Greeley, Colorado, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
In place of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
