

Pat went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29th. She went peacefully with family by her side at Spring Creek Health Care Center in Fort Collins. She was born May 21st, 1934 in Greeley. She was the daughter of Harold and Blanche (Eubank) Young. Pat is survived by four children: Joe (Linda) Peterson of Windsor, David (Kathleen) Peterson of Fort Collins, Rose (Mike) Hojio of Gill, and Laurie (Jerry) Certain of Thornton, two brothers: Jerry (Eileen) Young, and Bill (Barbara) Young, two sisters: Shirley Baxter, and Evey (Al) Andres and eight grandchildren: Paul, Mark, Daniel, Erica, Shelby, John, Kellie, and Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Young; and her former husband, Kenneth Peterson.
Except for a short time in Cheyenne, WY and a few weeks in a Fort Collins nursing home, Pat lived her entire life in Weld County. She lived in Greeley until she was seven years old. In January 1942 her family moved to a farm southwest of Windsor. For 1st and 2nd grade she attended St. Peter’s Catholic school in Greeley. For 2nd – 7th grade she attended the Oklahoma School district (1 room, 1 teacher, and about 12 children). For 8th and 9th grade she attended school in Johnstown. For 10th thru 12th grade she attended Windsor High School. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1952.
She married Kenneth Peterson on November 29th, 1952 at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Loveland. They were married until January, 1974. They raised four beautiful children. After Kenneth retired from the military, the family farmed on various farms outside of Windsor. In 1968 the family moved into the town of Windsor.
In March 1975, Pat graduated from the Larimer County Vo-tech nursing school. She worked for over 20 years at the Windsor Health Care Center and was a blessing to many patients during that time period. Her patience and understanding for those who needed her were legendary.
In October 2004 Pat moved to The Willows (assisted living residence in Windsor) where she remained until August 2011.
Pat loved to read, play the organ and keyboard, and work crossword puzzles. She loved dogs and had a canine companion most of her life. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very kind, generous, and loving person who will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
