Peggy Illene Lind, age 87, passed away on March 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was born on June 18, 1936, in Greeley, Colorado, to Bryon and Gertrude Campbell. Peggy was the oldest of four siblings, her brother Frank Campbell and her sisters Ethel Kay Eicheim, and Ruth Ann Clark.
Peggy attended Hazelton School and later graduated from Greeley High in 1954. Following graduation, she pursued business classes in the Denver area. On November 27, 1955, Peggy married the love of her life, Robert Lind, and together they built a strong farming legacy in Weld County, Colorado. They were blessed with four children: Alan Lind (Robin), Bill Lind (Alicia), Patricia Ball, and David Lind (Stephanie).
They eventually settled in the Gilcrest area of Weld County, where Peggy embraced her role as the ultimate farm wife. She could often be found assisting in day-to-day operations, driving tractors, and helping with harvest. But Peggy's true passion lay in being a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her famous mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and chocolate cake were always a highlight of family gatherings.
Peggy had many passions in life, from gardening to crafting, and she was constantly busy with her various interests. She loved playing Contract Rummy with family. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Nuggets, However, her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She adored her seven grandchildren: Eric Lind (Christie), Katharine Lind (Scott), Paul Lind (Shae), William Lind (Katherine), Andrew Lind (Elena), Brooke Lind, and Christopher Ball. Peggy also cherished her role as a great-grandmother to six wonderful children: Crosby Lind, Landrie Lind, Jensen Lind, Reilly Lind, Reagan Lind, and Remi Lind. Her grandchildren were always welcome in her home, and they loved spending time with her at the kitchen table whenever they had the chance. She loved attending all her grandchildren’s sporting events and rarely missed one.
Peggy led a virtuous life and was a beloved matriarch of the Lind family. She will be forever remembered and cherished by all those she had the privilege of knowing her. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her daughter Patricia, her sister Ruth Ann Clark, and her grandson Christopher Ball.
Peggy's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley, April 3,2024 at 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be Thursday, April 4,2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut, Windsor, Colorado. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, Colorado.
