Phyllis Beth Page, of Estes Park, died January 4, 2015, following a brief stay in Hospice at Prospect Park Living Center. She was born May 12, 1925, in Lanark, Carroll County, Illinois. Her parents were Marian Ruth (Flory) and George Wesley Peat. She attended Lanark community schools and graduated from Lanark High School in 1943. While in Lanark, she was a member of Lanark Church of the Brethren. Over the years, she was a member of various churches, most recently at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies. Phyllis attended the Art Institute of Chicago and then married Earl Page, of Dixon, Illinois, on April 3, 1947. They moved to Iowa, including Grundy Center, Decorah, and Bettendorf, while having four children along the way. Education was very important to Phyllis, so when all of the kids were grown, she attended colleges and universities in Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky, ending up at the University of Illinois, where she obtained a B.S. in Interior Design. Following college, she held various positions for the Federal Government, mostly in personnel, until her retirement from the U.S. Forest Service in 1994. Retiring to Estes Park, she enjoyed doing art projects, such as cross-stitch, needlepoint, stained glass, beadwork, and sewing. She leaves a legacy of many of these projects with her extended family. She was a member of the Estes Park Weavers Guild. Also a voracious reader, Phyllis made weekly trips to the Estes Park Library for mysteries. She started at the beginning of the alphabet of authors and worked her way through the “T”s at the time of her death. Reading helped her when she had a stroke at age 39 and continued to help with recovery of subsequent TIAs. Survivors include three children; daughters Karen Page Crislip (George) and Paula Peat Page Martin (Brent), both of Estes Park, Colorado, and son, Evan Martin Page, of Woodbridge, Virginia. Also, she leaves a brother, Ray Peat (Carolyn) of Rockford, Illinois and a sister, Marilyn Bauer, of Sebring, Florida, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Peat Martz, and a son, Michael Dean Page. Following a service at Presbyterian Church of the Rockies on Saturday, January 10th at 4:00PM, Phyllis will be buried at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens.
