

He was born in Windsor, Colorado to Alex and Katherine Oblander. In 1945, Raymond enlisted in the Army and served in Europe during the war. Upon his return, he worked on his father’s farm for a short period of time before getting his own farm in Alt. After his farm was flooded as a result of a dam rupture, Raymond got a job at Farmhand for the next 15 years, and then in 1977, went to work for the City of Greeley and would remain there for 30 years until his retirement.
Raymond married his wife, Virginia, in 1954 and were blessed in 1961 with their only child, a son named John.
Raymond loved to listen to polka, enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law, Clyde Bruce, and was an avid sports player and fan, but his true passion was in baseball. Playing in his earlier years, and later coaching before, during, and after John’s playing of the sport. He dedicated much of his time and knowledge to the sport he so very much loved.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Herman; his sisters, Frieda, Esther and infant Alvene; and his dear friend, Loretta.
Raymond is survived by his only son, John and his wife Rebecca; his sister Alma; his 12 nieces and nephews; his grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Samantha, Steven, Josh, Bethany, Katie, and Marina;and over 30 great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at Allnutt Funeral Service - Macy Chapel in Greeley, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
