Ray passed away on October 17, 2022, in Greeley, Colorado surrounded by his loving family. Ray is survived by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Carol Patch. He is survived by three amazing children, oldest son Donnie Patch and daughter in law Karol, his daughter Jennifer (Patch) Noonan and son in law Josh, and son Wesley Patch and daughter in law Tammy. Ray has 7 grandchildren Austin (Kayley), Isabel (Andy), Savannah (Jake), Jordan, Mariah, Colton, and Cassidy and 1 great grand son, Kaiser.
Ray joined the United States Navy in 1963 at the age of 17 after graduating from Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale, Colorado. Ray was a Petty Officer and joined the USS Vesuvius (AE-15) as a machinist mate. He served 5 years 1 month and 20 days while serving three tours in Vietnam and sea service totaling 3 years 7 months and 1 day. Ray received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Ray was honorable discharged from the United States Navy in June of 1969.
Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, all sporting events, politics, and anyone that would give him a handshake. Ray was a people person, loved being involved with his children, grandchildren and any young adults and their activities. He was involved in anything that he could make an impact on people from announcing high school football games, parent organizations, school functions and even the Mayor of Hudson, Colorado. While he was Mayor he designed and built a Veteran’s Memorial, a community park for fishing, helped to design and build a new town hall, and he organized Habitat for Humanity homes for veterans in the town. Most of all Ray was a family man and was dedicated to working hard to support his wife and kids. Ray touched many people’s hearts, and he will never be forgotten, as we all “Love that Man,” Welcome Home and Rest Easy Dad, it is well deserved.
A Celebration of Life for Raymond will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at American Legion - Post 109, 624 Ash Street, Windsor, Colorado 80550.
