I was thinking of Pastor the other day and tried to call him, and the phone was not in order, so I decided to check why. Pastor was the one who prayed for me when I gave my life to Christ in 1975. I am so sorry to hear of his loss, and will always remember him and Mildred, as he was not only my Pastor, but a very great friend.

Hi family of George Voeks-I just found today that Pastor Voeks has passed on to heaven. I love the man. He invited me to receive Christ as savior in 1975 at East Immanuel. Such a blessing to know Jesus, Mildred, and George!

We feel privileged and blessed to have known Pastor V when we lived in St Paul.  His joyful and positive spirit was contagious. He baptized our first child, which was  truly a holy event.  
May God be your solace in your time of grief, and may his memory be eternal.

Dear Stephanie,Dan, and family,My name is Robin Paoletti. I was George's Housekeeper for over 2 years at the Good Samaritan. I worked there until May of 2008. It wa truly a pleasure to have met your Dad. He was such a kind , sweet, and caring man. He told me great stories, and gave the best hugs! Stephanie I enjoyed meeting you as well! I just happened to be in Estes Park for an appointment today and I saw the memorial  information regarding George in the local newspaper. My heart was sad. Reverend George Voeks was my godfather and uncle. Both he and my aunt Mildred lived lives that exemplified the love of Jesus wherever they were.They had a deep love and respect for God's creation as demonstrated by the joy of various outdoor activities.George had a sweet spirit,empowered by his love for the Lord.Both he and my aunt Mildred will be held near and dear to my heart until I see them once again in heaven.

George was like a huge light bulb.  Whenever he walked into a room it was well lit with his bubbly joy, broad smile and bright eyes. He was so gracious and generous in helping others.  We called him on the spur of the moment to help us with an urgent need of a house guest. Our visitor was depressed and needed counseling.  George took him out to coffee without ever having previously met him. That says a lot! Ann Weitzel

Dad was a man after God's own heart.  He was an example of the unconditional love of God in my life.  He lived passionately every day for Jesus.  I will never forget the times of prayer and singing together.  He was the best father-in-law I could ever have asked for.  My life is richer and fuller because of George Voeks.  I will carry him in my heart always.  I'll miss Dad very much but I rejoice that he is now in the arms of God.

I wanted to let you know some things that papa did that made a difference in my life. He was an extremely great role model. He really knew how life should be lived, with Jesus in our hearts. He taught me so much about how I should act and live my life on a day to day basis. He taught me, and showed me through example that Jesus was the boss. He controls everything and there was nothing we could do to change His love for us. I learned that in everything  we do we should be trying to please God and live as He would want us to. My grandpa showed and taught me that if we trust in God and just live for Him, he will watch over, and provide for us. Papa was a perfect example of Jesus' light and love. I'll miss him terribly.

Most of my fondest childhood memories are with family. Sundays were always a big day in our family. Watching Papa preach and captivate an audience like no other always amazed me. He was SO passionate about Jesus that it was hard not to listen to him preach (even as a young child). The races back to Nana and Papa's house with ""1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready and 4 to go!"" are also now favorites of my children Ella and Ethan. Helping Nana make Norwegian pancakes, eating lots of cheese, listening to Papa play Santa Claus on Christmas, childhood trips to Como Park, going on hikes in the mountains and trout fishing are just a few of my favorite memories with Papa. Having him perform my wedding ceremony to Shannon, will also live in my heart forever. He was a strong man of God and I can only hope to help as many people in my lifetime as he did in his. I will miss you Papa but I know that I will one day see you again.

Pastor Voeks I know you are more than ok now, but I pray for your family who remain and have grief at your leaving. I want to be that type of man with such a close walk with God (tender, always emphasizing prayer, encouraging others to press on to have a relationship with Abba Father..) You always had a smile for others ...never were you too busy to share or encourage, you reached out to all ...Pastor George you were the strength, the rock that was behind all that was good in the Lutheran charismatic renewal...you have earned your prize and eternal rest...I try now as a married man and father to live in your legacy that began for me 1973-80's...greet the saints and we will meet again someday in paradise...john

To say the name 'George Voeks' is one of those few names that immediately creates a very definate image. That is an image of 'joy, hope, and optimism'. We were happy to have known Pastor Voeks.

Dear Dan, Stephanie, Siri, Leah and Mike, and to the Voeks family as well, May the Lord be with you and comfort you today and in the days ahead. I am thankful to the Lord for being able to get to know him more when I would come out to colorado for a visit. And we enjoyed going into the mountains and snowshoeing and he would preach and teach to me especially the verse I can do all things in him who strengthens me and he would have me say it outloud..His encouragement and inspiration to me were awesome! I enjoyed going to mcdonalds with him and Stephanie and also going to his place and sitting outside and talking to him and looking @ the beautiful mountains..and I thank him so much for all his love and prayers. I will miss him but I know he is well and happy and joyful being with Mildred and the Lord! You are all in my thoughts and prayers, love in jesus!

Dad was a follower of Christ.  Christ said, ""If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it."" Luke 9:23.  For Dad this was not a notion nor a preoccupation.  It was simply Christ's command.  Dad wanted to follow Christ, and he knew how to do it.  For Dad, setting himself aside was a joyful and thankful response to his Heavenly Father out of which came a relationship with God that was full of life, love, and great joy.  That relationship with God spilled over into his love for Mom, his love for his family and his love for those whom he served.
Dad had so many Bible verses that he loved.  But this one was special: ""I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in this body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."" Gal. 2:20. Dad lived out this verse.  We love you, Dad.

When I think of papa I immediately picture his big smile and gentle soul. I have yet to meet a sweeter man than he! I can remember racing papa to the house after church on Sundays as he would start, ""1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready and 4 to go!"" This is now Kylie's favorite way to start a race:) I remember all the times we spent together at the Y in Colorado, taking hikes, riding horses, and eating Colby cheese:) I remember how proud I felt on Sunday mornings listening to him preach thinking to myself, ""That's MY grandpa up there!"" But one of my greatest memories was his role in my wedding ceremony. Nothing can replace his sweet words and joyful smile! I will miss him terribly but will be comforted knowing that he is home at last. I love you Papa!!

Pastor ""V"" was my childhood pastor at East Immanuel Lutheran Church. I have so many found memories of him. He was so genuine, always having a smile on his face, and he would never walk past someone without saying hello. I learned so much from him and all his sermons--I was impressed by the many sermons he would give without even looking at his notes! He was a true example of a Godly man.

Daddy, I have so many thoughts and fond memories that will forever be with me. The bedtime stories about the ""pigmees"", popcorn on Sunday nights, pancakes Friday mornings, Thursday lunches at Burger King, playing catch before Wed. night Bible study,the list is seemingly endless.Through my adult life all the countless times I could call you for prayer and a word of encouragement. You had the ability to COUNT IT ALL JOY....NO MATTER WHAT THE SITUATION WAS!!! Your laugh, your smile, your warm hugs,your love and compassion will be greatly missed. I do know that you are where you want to be with Jesus and Mommy. So to that end I will try to be like Paul in the bible when he says, ""Count it all joy when you go thru various trials..."". You instilled and taught me to know and love Jesus. The one constant thing in my life that has carried me through. I will miss you so very much! Signed,your bunny rabbit

George Voeks was the first man I ever called Pastor who truly embodied what that title means. His love and compassion was well known. He baptized my oldest and as I think on him today I have such a flood of pleasant memories. While I left East Immanuel over 20 years ago his impact in my life and life of my family will be felt for generations. The world mourns the loss of a Good Soldier of Christ. And heaven rejoices at the Homecoming of Pastor V.

we all lost a good man and dad last week. he blessed us all in so many ways. i never had a conversation or a time together where he didn't leave me feeling positive and with hope.he was an inspiration and an example for us all.dad you showed us how to live and now how to die.i was blessed to be on your path in this earthly world,will see you soon big daddy!!

What a sweet, sweet gentleman! I remember him coming into the Sword & Scroll Bookstore, and chance meetings in front of the Estes Park post office. Always upbeat and gracious. I know he was welcomed with open arms by many in Heaven. Blessing to all his family.

George Voeks was my uncle and always remembered by my brother and me.  We were at his wedding and he and wife were at mine. He will be missed.

Papa, I love you so much. Aiden has your eyes and Elijah has your heart. I see you in them every day and am truly blessed to have a constant reminder of your love and wisdom. I am so happy you are exactly where you want to be. Kiss Nana for me.

I became a member of George's family when I married Randy in 1972.  I have fond memories of Dad enjoying his grandchildren (after church every Sunday), when we would all gather at the parsonage for a Sunday meal.  
  We were also blessed to hear his rich voice as he read the Christmas Story from the Bible every Christmas Eve.  
  He was the dearest man! I will always remember the twinkle in his eyes and I feel blessed to have been able to call him Dad.

Hey Steph,
I just wanted to relay a quick story to you about my reaction to your dad's home-going. To this point in my life my reaction to any Christian going home has always been to first hurt for those left behind followed by a celebration for the one who's gotten to go see Jesus. However, when I got Robbi's email informing me of your dad's arrival in Jesus' arms, for the first time in my 15 years as a believer my very first reaction was JOY...followed shortly thereafter by my heart aching for you and Dan. The only explanation I can think of for my reaction has nothing to do with how much I care for you and Dan (which is A LOT!) but rather it has everything to do with your dad's infectious, exuberant, joyful love of Our Savior. I've met many folks who love Jesus but your dad wore his love for his Redeemer on his sleeve in a way that was equal to none! It was St. George's (the guys in the CBS men's core group used to lovingly call him that) obvious passion for Jesus that was the source of my reaction. I mean, how could I not be filled with joy at the very thing that would be bringing your dad the ultimate joy - to run into Jesus' embrace. Bottom line: your dad spurred me on to excellence in my own relationship with Jesus by showing me with his life the possibilities in that relationship. I'm a better child of God for having known your dad!

My closest and dearest uncle, always ready with a warm smile and love for life. May God reward him well, and also be extra-close to all his kids, grand-kids & great-grand-kids. He is truly a gem who will be missed, yet I believe he's happy to be Home.
