Richard L. McKinney

He was born December 31, 1945 in Greeley, to Samuel Frank and Velma Mary (Talbott) McKinney.

Richard was reared and educated in Evans, graduating from Evans High School in 1963. He then entered the US Navy, serving during the Viet Nam War. He attained the rank of RMSN and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1970.

On May 18, 1974 he married Rowena June Hibbs, in Platteville. She died June 18, 2011.

Following his discharge he returned home and worked for Monfort Of Colorado and later for Syntex, which is now Roche Bioscience. He was a chemical operator. They enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. He enjoyed collecting including bobbleheads and model cars. He was a Denver Broncos fan.

He is survived by a daughter Candice Lewallen (Justin) of Evans; two sons, Richard McKinney (Angie) of Gilbert, Arizona and Guy McKinney (Terina) of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister Lynnette Calabrese (Phillip) of Greeley; and a brother, Samuel McKinney (Janet) of Greeley; granddaughters, Brittany McKinney and Kaleigh McKinney, both of Gilbert, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Danny McKinney, Wayne McKinney, Shelly McKinney, Melissa Sau, and Tiffany Griggs; and his beloved cat, Herbie.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Sherman.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Stoddard Funeral Home. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
