

Robert “Bud” Stanley, 83, of Greeley, passed away from a heart attack at North Colorado Medical Center on July 27, 2015. Robert was born October 14, 1931 in Pueblo, CO to Arthur Edward and Uba (Tisdel) Stanley. He married Dorothy Mitchell in 1954, they later divorced. He then married Diana Best on February 14, 1982 in Coco Palms, Kauai, HI.
A long time resident of Northern Colorado, Bud lived in Lucerne and Greeley. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1949. He went into the Air Force where he learned his passion for technology. He attended tech school while in California and was also a grocery bagger to the stars while attending school. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the Korean War.
Bud, an innovator and entrepreneur at heart, designed and developed communication equipment. He was instrumental in bringing cell phones to Colorado. He owned Stanley Commercial Radio, Stanley Computer repair, Robert Stanley Computers since 1956, and DVM Systems. He also co-owned Promontory Self storage with his son Rob.
Bud was a member of Rotary, the Sheriff’s Posse, the Greeley Country Club, Financiers Unlimited, and was part of a men’s coffee group that met twice a week. He enjoyed electronics, gadgets, E-Bay, auctions, woodworking, boating, airplanes, motorcycles and golfing. Bud lived a full life. One of his favorite quotes was “It’s not what you do in life, It’s what you don’t do that you regret”.
Bud is survived by his wife Diana Stanley; sons Robert “Rob” (Carolyn) Stanley, Jeff (Janet) Stanley, and Frasier Stanley; daughters Margaret (John) Melin, Cathy (Tim) Graff, Elizabeth Loucks, and Madison Stanley; four grandsons and seven granddaughters; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Margaret “Peggy” Bird and brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Bird.
A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on July 30, 2015 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 3815 W. 20th St., Greeley, CO. A private burial will be held at the Eaton Cemetery.
