After back surgery in Fall of 2008 for his scoliosis, breathing complications lead to a prolonged hospitalization. Bob was able to return to his Boulder home in Fall of 2009 and spent the last 8 months living and working at home with the support of family and home nursing care. Bob died on Monday July 19, 2010 at the age of 71yrs.
Robert was born December 2, 1938 in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1956. His parents were Clay J and Maude Mae Willis Taylor. He received his BFA in 1960 from Colorado State College of Education (now University of Northern Colorado). He worked for a year for a local print shop before attending Colorado Institute of Art in Denver from 1962-64 for his graphic design training. Robert relocated to Los Angeles, CA and worked 1964-69 for Saul Bass Design and in the graphic design field. He returned to Colorado in 1970 working for Denver design firms. In 1975 he started his own design firm, Robert W. Taylor Design, Inc. and moved the business to Boulder in 1983.
Among the many design projects Robert and his staff did over 35 yrs, two of the most notable are the 1989 World Alpine Ski Championship logo and materials and the 1991 Denver International Airport logo. Robert and staff designed the logo for the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and designed their Induction Banquet Program for 16yrs. One of the posters for the Manville Corporation is part of the graphics collection of the Denver Art Museum. Robert’s last project was putting together the ADCD archival collection for the Denver Public Library.
Robert’s design work has appeared in local awards shows as well as national publications. Memberships include the Denver Art Directors Club, from which Robert received the Denver Art Director’s Club (ADCD) first Legacy Award in 2003; and AIGA, a professional organization for design headquartered in New York with a local Colorado chapter, which honored Robert in 2004 with the first Colorado Chapter Fellow Award.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, her husband Ron, and granddaughter Taylor of Golden Colorado and his brother Jack of Greeley, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Robert Taylor AIGA Colorado Scholarship or the Tennyson Center for Children.

Internment to follow reception at Linn Grove Cemetery.
