Ronald was born on May 23, 1943 in Severance, Colorado, to Rudolph and Pauline Schlotthauer. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1961.
On October 26, 1963, Ronald married Patricia "Patty" Knight. Together, they built a family and shared many cherished memories.
Ronald spent the majority of his working life at the Monfort Packing Plant, where he worked for 1961 to 1991. His work ethic was unmatched - he never missed a day of work until his health required him to do so.
Due to health challenges, Ronald later worked part time at his nephew's bar, Steven's Grill in Eaton, Colorado, where he enjoyed staying active and visiting with familiar faces until his retirement in 2016.
Ronald had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, and take trips to the Green River, where he found peace and joy in nature. To him, peace was spending time with his rowdy friends and family and the joy was found in an ice cold budweiser. This lead to him being known as the "Budweiser King." An avid outdoorsman, Ronald was also fond of cruising the backroads in his 1969 Dodge, affectionately known as "The Legend." He often took detours on his drives to visit the old property, revisiting places filled with memories and meaning.
He was also known as a silver dollar flipper, the one who could flip it into the air and catch it every time - a small but unforgettable talent that brought smiles and laughter to those around him.
Ronald fought bone, bladder, and prostate cancer with one heck of a fight, holding on to make it to a new year with a smile on his face for all of us. We know you're watching over us know - rest easy.
Ronald will be fondly remember as someone who never missed a Broncos game, a true fighter through every season of life, and the tireless hard worker who's strength, love, and joy will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Kennedy (Chris Kennedy), and his son, Ronny Schlotthauer. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, including Rheanna, Tionna, Rhandee, Tiarra, Tricia, Sunshine, Cody, and Tomi, as well as his great-grandchildren Nina, Rylan, Wesley, Aaliyah, Jeremiah, Levee.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Ronda Hubbard, his grandson Toby, his parents Rudolph and Pauline Schlotthauer, one brother, two sisters, and his former wife and good friend, Patricia "Patty" knight.
The family of Ronald would like to thank the staff at Banner Hospice with a special thank you to his nurses Alyce Keyes and Kris Scherr.
