Ruth, one of 16 children, was born on January 19, 1927 in Russell, KS to Fred and Mary (Reisig) Keil. Ruth and her family moved to the Greeley area when she was 6 years old, and she first attended school in Bracewell.
Ruth married Jerry D. Clayton in December 1946. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Grand Junction where they remained for many years before returning to Greeley in the late 1980’s. Ruth lovingly took care of the home and was an avid gardener with a “green thumb”. She was always happy when extended family was able to get together and she could catch up on the latest events with all of them. She devoted much time to visiting family and close friends, providing care and comfort as she went. Ruth lived by example – showing many of us how to be strong, sturdy, and resilient while being thoughtful and kind.
She is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 2008, her parents (Fred and Mary), all of her siblings (Rachel, Martha, Rueben, Paul, Carl, Delmar, John, Robert, Mildred, Ralph, Albert, Minnie, Helen, Wilbur, and Sylvia).
Ruth will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO.
