OBITUARY

Sally Ann McClure

17 December, 1928 – 8 March, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Stoddard Funeral & Cremation & Sunset Memorial Gardens

Sally McClure, 96, of Greeley, Colorado died Saturday, March 8 at Grace Pointe in Greeley.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan to William and Burnice Hooper on December 17, 1928. She spent her early years in Kenora, Ontario, Canada, and later moved to Sundridge, Ontario where she finished high school.

Sally moved from Sundridge to Lansing, Michigan to attend nursing school at Michigan State University. There she met John McClure and they were married at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 3, 1951.

They quickly started a family, which she nurtured and cared for as the young family moved to Denver, Colorado, where Cheryl was born (1951); then Billings, Montana, where Mary (1952) and Deborrah (1954) were born; next Lansing, Michigan, where Sandra was born (1955); and finally, Greeley, Colorado where David (1957) and Paul (1959) were born. They settled in Greeley raising six children, where Sally remained until her death.

As the children grew older, Sally went to work part-time in the school lunch program. Once the children moved away from home, she worked at the University of Northern Colorado in the Admissions/Registration Department until her retirement in 1988. After her retirement she became a volunteer for nearly 20 years at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

John and Sally loved to travel; 4-wheeling, hiking and camping throughout the Western United States. She also visited her family in Ontario, Canada whenever possible. On their 40th wedding anniversary they fulfilled a dream to visit Hawaii.

Sally’s husband, John died in 2005 after 54 years of marriage. Her son, David died in 2018.

Survivors are four daughters, Cheryl Hunter, Mary McClure, Deb (Cary) Pilon, Sandra McClure, and one son, Paul (Viviane) McClure; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
