Stephanie, the daughter of Gary Whitmer and Carolyn (Corky) Whitmer, was born on February 13, 1983 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The family moved to Greeley during Stephanie’s preschool years. She graduated from Greeley West High School, attended a year of college at Colorado State University, and graduated from Front Range Community College in Fort Collins with an advanced degree in nursing. She worked at various medical specialty clinics and hospitals in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Greeley. She recently accepted a position as Case Manager with North Colorado Health Alliance.
Stephanie was an extraordinarily talented and compassionate nurse. She liked to draw and workout, and was especially fond of children and animals. Stephanie was a beautiful young woman whose kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by her mother, Corky Whitmer, sister, Jennifer Whitmer, grandmother, Mildred (Frankie) Bunker, aunts, Diane Bischoff and Dixie Dupey, three cousins and their families, and her beloved pets. Her father, Gary Whitmer, and grandparents, Russell and Thelma Whitmer, and Martin Bunker, preceded her in death.
A private burial service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, followed by an open house for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stephanie Whitmer can be made to The Wild Animal Sanctuary, 1946 County Road 53, Keenesburg, Colorado, 80643, where Stephanie was training to be a volunteer.
