Steve was my on of my two closest high school friend.  
My wife Sandi (Estal) and I were Driver's Ed car partners with Steve in the 11th grade and we were important parts in each other's weddings.
Steve was also the unofficial ""roadie"" for our rock band, the Statesmen, latter called the Soothsayers.  He was INSTRUMENTAL in helping us win the Colorado Battle of the Bands in 1966 and even drove our over 1 million votes from friends, family, and supporters to he KIMN radio station in he's dad's pickup (a FORD of course!). 
As adults, living half a country apart and we having little family remaining in Colorado, kept us apart with years passing between visits.  However, we often exchanged emails and phone call for family updates and to keep in contact.
He will be missed by so many people, but especially Sandi and me.
