

Gary and Jody James are setting up this memorial website to honor Jody’s parents. Phyllis has a memorial website and Jody thought it would be honoring to have both her parents on one website. Jody loves and honors her parents and wishes people to remember them for what they provided for Jody and her husband Gary throughout their lives. Norman "Tex" Alexander 72, of Greeley died Wednesday, Sept. 29th at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born march 22, 1932, in Shive, Texas to Tee Works and Bessie (Connell) Alexander. On Jan 22, 1955, he married Phyllis June Brown in Grover. Mr. Alexander served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Greeley Gas Co. for 34 years as a heavy equipment operator. He did a lot of volunteer work, including for the Salvation Army and the Cancer Society. He loved people and never met a stranger. He liked to hunt, fish and enjoyed the mountains. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Alexander of Greeley; a daughter Jody James of Lafayette, CO; a son, Joey Alexander of Denver; two sisters, Melba Townsend and Janie Matthews, and a brother James Alexander, all of Texas; a nephew who was raised as a brother, Jerry Alexander of Greeley; two granddaughters, Zora Lee Hunter Alexander and her sister Emily Brooks; a grandson, Joey Alexander Jr. His parents, a sister and a brother are deceased. Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley. Friends may visit from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Phyllis June Alexander, 78, of Greeley died July 27, 2012 at Northern Colorado Hospice in Greeley. She was born on June 27, 1934 in Grover, Colorado to Robert Orie Brown and Thelma Jo Brown (Edwards). A graduate of Grover High School, Phyllis' varied work experience included a legal assistant, a nurses' aide, a waitress, an apartment manager, and a retail clerk. On January 22, 1955, she married Norman 'Tex' Alexander.
While attending the Salvation Army Church, Phyllis served others through her volunteer work with the Home League and received awards for her care and compassion toward others. Family and friends remember her giving rides and food to others. Fishing, hunting, and boating are activities her family and friends remember her enjoying.
Survivors are her daughter Jody James and husband Gary of Lafayette, Colorado; her son Joey Michael Alexander of Evans, Colorado; three sisters, Shirley Nash of Evansville, Wyoming; Coleen Hart; and Elaine Werner and her husband Art all of Greeley, Colorado; three brothers, Donald Brown and his wife Frances of Eaton, Colorado; Roger Brown and his wife Pat of McCook, Nebraska; and Arlon and his wife Linda of Peetz, Colorado; and two grandchildren Zora Lee Hunter Alexander of Commerce City, Colorado and Joey Michael Alexander, Jr. of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Phyllis has many nieces, nephews, and friends. Her husband of 49 years and her two parents preceded her in death.
Memorial gifts can be made in Phyllis June Alexander's honor to the Northern Colorado Hospice of Greeley in care of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634. Visitation and viewing is Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. at Stoddard Funeral Home. The funeral is Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral home with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
