Born on March 6, 1965, in Gillette, Wyoming, to Arthur and Alice Cundy, Vance spent his childhood riding horses and working alongside his siblings on the family ranch. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1983 before taking college courses at the University of Wyoming and Sheridan College. His work ethic was unmatched—he spent most of his adult life laboring tirelessly on the oil rigs to provide for those he loved.
Vance was a man of deep curiosity and boundless kindness. He devoured knowledge, always with a book in hand. He had a mind that was sometimes too sharp for his own good. As a father to his four daughters, he filled their lives with love, laughter, wisdom, and music. His guitar became an extension of his heart, carrying the melodies of his soul.
His love for all living things was evident not only in his soft spot for animals but in his ability to cultivate thriving gardens that nourished both his family and his spirit. He never turned away someone in need, always offering his warmth, his generosity, and his friendship. To know Vance was to feel at home in his presence.
Vance is survived by his four daughters, Samantha Ogle, Jessica Holliday, Re’ance Cundy, and Vanessa Cundy; his grandchildren, Hunter Ogle, Isabella Ogle, LillyAnne Ogle, Miles Markham, Matteo Estrada, Aurelio Estrada; and his great-grandson, Brentley Ogle. He also leaves behind his mother, Alice Cundy, his siblings Nicole (Troy) Allee, Travis (Connie) Cundy, and Scott Cundy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cundy, his grandparents, Ida and Morris Clark and aunt Jean Martinez.
Though Vance is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in every book read, every chord played, and every act of kindness shared. His legacy is one of curiosity, love, and generosity. We honor him not by mourning but by embracing life with the same passion and kindness he carried so effortlessly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his incredible life.
