Obituary of Bertha Marjorie Anderson
Bertha Marjorie (Nore) Anderson joined her beloved husband in well-earned rest on May 9th, 2022. Bert was born into a large, loving family on a farm near Albion, Nebraska, on March 17th, 1928. Her father, Albert Nore, passed away at a young age, leaving her mother, Oline (Aase) Nore, to care for the seven children still at home and a newly-purchased farm. At his funeral, well-intentioned folks offered to take in some of the children in the hopes of making Oline’s situation a little easier, but she was a stubborn Norwegian. She kept her family together, raised strong and civic-minded children, and with ingenuity and determination, eventually paid off the loan on the farm. The same themes of self-reliance and the importance of family defined Bert as well. She devoted her life to her family. No family dinner was complete without at a least one request for Bert to stop worrying over everyone else and finally sit down to eat. For every football game, piano recital, great day, terrible day, and every day between, she was there. And she cared. Sincerely. To her children and the generations that followed, she stressed the importance of never taking your blessings for granted, finding the value and the lesson in every situation, and leaving the world better than you found it. When she wasn’t busy with her family, Bert was most likely to be found rejoicing in the faith and fellowship of Peace Lutheran Church. The friendships she forged over years of service in various organizations within the congregation were some of her longest-lasting and most treasured. She is survived by her children, Eric (Mary Catherine) Anderson of Fairland and Mary Anderson and fiancé Bobby Morris of Greencastle; her grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Hackworth of Fairland, Jamie (Elijah Pressman) Bright of Los Angeles, CA, and Cody (Nicole) Anderson of Plainfield; her great-grandchildren, Shelbi Smith, Blayde Hackworth, Emma Anderson and Beau Anderson; her brother, Paul Nore of Milpitas, CA; her sister-in-law, Marion Nore of Lincoln, NE; her sister-in-law, Ardith Nore, of Belle Fourche, SD; and a wealth of cherished family and friends. Welcoming her home are her parents, Albert and Oline; siblings, Sygni Holt, Thelma Maurer, Gilbert Nore, Alice Lee, Luther Nore, Henry Nore, and Ole Nore; and her dearest friend, confidante, traveling companion, biggest fan, and husband of 68 years, John Robert Anderson. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Troy Quiz and his wonderful staff, as well as Stephanie, Chandra, Kathy, Allison and the rest of the team at Amedisys who provided such excellent care for Bert and our family. Also, our deepest thanks to our beloved friends at Peace Lutheran for their support and thoughtful guidance. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 16th, from 4-7pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 S Bloomington St, Greencastle, IN 46135. An additional visitation will take place from 10-11am on Tuesday, May 17th, at Peace Lutheran Church, with services beginning at 11am and interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle to follow. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in Bertha's memory. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Anderson family.
