Betty was born in Tell City on October 14, 1935, the daughter of Maurice and Pearl (Peckinpaugh) Elder, and was a graduate of Tell City High School.
Mrs. Walton was a bookkeeper for many years working with 3D Auto Supply and IBM Credit Union. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Greencastle.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pam Proctor, (husband-Rick), and Stephanie Richardson, (husband-John); four grandchildren, Derek Richardson, (wife-Julie), Cory Proctor, (wife-Morgan), Nicole Vanatti, (husband-Aaron), and Dana Logan, (husband-Craig); seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Walton; and three brothers Harold, Bernard and Bob Elder.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Anderson officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service on Thursday.
