Charles Ray Gilley

Charles Ray Gilley, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 surrounded by family.
Born November 20, 1929 in Jonesville, VA, he was the son of Wentz and Ora (Glass) Gilley and was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1948”.
Charles was a veteran having served in the United States Army and was a life time member of the V.F.W.
He retired from IBM in 1987, where he had worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church.
Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty J. (Rumley) Gilley; children, Marvin Gilley, Kevin Gilley, Steven (Heather) Gilley, and Brenda (Darrin) Wells; a brother, Bob (Kay) Gilley; grandchildren, Kevin Gilley, JR, Shelby (Max) Lowe, Averi Gilley, Grace Gilley, Eli Gilley, Trevor Moore, and Seth Coning; and great grandchildren Dylan Gilley, Easton Lowe, Kai Coning, Addison Coning, and Bryer Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Bill Gilley and a sister, Margaret Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will following at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
