Danny Joe Bumgardner

Danny Joe Bumgardner, 68, of Greencastle passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Danny was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 27, 1949, the son of Joe and Ida (Bullock) Bumgardner, and was a 1969 graduate of Greencastle, High School. Mr. Bumgardner worked as a machinist for five years before starting work with his brother at Bumgardner’s Auto and Truck. In 1997 Danny bought the business and ran it until his retirement in 2015. He loved old cars, he worked on them and enjoyed looking at them. Survivors include his son, Jason Bumgardner, (wife-Sarah), Romeoville, Illinois; a sister, Linda Gregory, (husband-Jimmy), Greencastle; four grandchildren, Randie Stone, (husband-Matt), Mason, Ohio, Jeffrey Bumgardner, (Blair), Indianapolis; Tony Neel, (Samantha), Indianapolis, and James Smock, Indianapolis; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Parker Stone; a special daughter, Sherry Smock, (husband-Doug), Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Sandi Bumgardner; four brothers, Jim, Jack, Willard, and Lloyd Bumgardner; and an infant sister, Kathrine Bumgardner. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Bumgardner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home and one hour prior to time of service on Wednesday.
