Born Aug. 9, 1930 in Hammond, he was the son of Rollie and Hazel (Freeman) Coffman.
Gene was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War.
Gene had worked at Lonestar Cement for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Rods and Relics Car Club and was an avid motorcycle rider.
Survivors include his brothers, Gary Coffman, Larry Coffman and Donnie Coffman; sisters Shirley Williams, Mae Nolan, Peg Guy and Mary Truesdale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Kean) Coffman; parents; brothers, Jack, Jim and Bill Coffman; and sisters, Carol Love and Marcia Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the funeral home.
