Ethan Carter Ames

Ethan is remembered by those who knew him best as a truly incredible guy and one-of-a-kind. He loved many things, but first and foremost he loved being a father. His time with his two children, Carter Lee and Wren Abigail, were his happiest moments. He loved planning big adventures for them to the Children's Museum or county fair and spoiling them with gifts and treats.

He had a huge heart--he loved his family, friends, and farm deeply, and he would bend over backwards to do whatever he could to help others. He frequently would stop to help strangers on the side of the road to change a tire or fix their car trouble. He always had an ear to listen to anyone who needed to talk, and he remembered the details of lives that were shared with him so that he could follow up to ask about them later. His kindness and good nature were two of his most defining characteristics.

He kept everyone who knew him laughing with his goofy sense of humor. From his practical jokes--he once replaced his mom's deodorant with cream cheese--to his silly songs and impressions, spending time with Ethan would make your sides split.

His work ethic was second to none, and he loved working hard at Ames 4K Farms, on his trucks, and in the woods.

He was a tireless fighter. He courageously battled mental illness and addiction throughout his adult life, no doubt helping countless others in the process. His immediate family will always admire him for the work he put in and the brave face he put on for so many years.

Ethan was born October 28, 1989 in Indianapolis, the son of Kim and Regina (Mattox) Ames and was a graduate of South Putnam High School "Class of 2008". He worked on the family farm and was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Carter and Wren Ames; parents, Kim and Gina Ames; sister, Ashley Ames; grandfather, Kenneth Ames; grandmother, Judy Conard; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at a later date. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family c/o www.Hopkins-Rector.com . In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a memorial fund to benefit Carter and Wren Ames.
