Obituary of Janet Sue Staley
Janet Sue Staley, 74, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2019. Janet was born on November 30, 1944 to John and Rose Bombei, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was raised on the Holbrook Dairy Farm in Amo, IN. She was a 1962 graduate of Amo High School, then was employed at Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. She worked there until she married Kenneth “Kenny” David Barr on September 4, 1965. Both were members at Amo Baptist Church. Their first daughter, Cindy was born in September 1966. Kenny then passed away on February 3, 1968. Their second daughter, Cathy, was born eight months later in October 1968. Janet then joined the Greencastle First Baptist Church in March 30, 1969. Here, she met William “Bill” Gordon Staley and they wed August 23, 1969. Their daughter, Laura, was born in July 1974. Janet’s second place of employment was at First Baptist Church, Greencastle, as an Administrative Assistant. She worked there for 41+ years, retiring August 2, 2019. Janet’s hobbies included spending time with her children, grandchildren and her three grand-dogs, Rosco, Murphy, and Peyton, vacationing in her favorite place, Gatlinburg, TN, quilting, working puzzles, and being outdoors in the woods or driving through the country. She dearly loved all kinds of animals and took care of many stray animals. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Kenny and Bill, grandson Ian Christian Miller, and siblings, Maurice Bombei, Robert Bombei, Richard “Dickie” Bombei, and Martha Cline. Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Tobin) Miller of Brazil, Cathy (Mark) Tesmer of Greencastle, and Laura (George) Fernandez of Plainfield; step-children, Jeff (Pat) Staley, Linda Staley, Brett (Lynn) Barr; grandchildren, Josh Hinkle, Samantha Miller, Thomas Tesmer, Sarah (Brett) Saylor, Ethan Sparks, Megan (Josh) Smith, Evan Staley, Sean Barr, and Kaitlyn Barr; siblings, Jack Bombei, David “Butch “ (Pat) Bombei, Ruth (Ron) Thornburgh; sisters-in-laws, Anita (Max) McEnulty, Mary Ruth Jones, Janet Barr, Vonnie (Rex) Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 404 Judson Drive Greencastle. Interment will follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 6th at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to the Charles Stanley “In Touch Ministries” P.O.
