

Born February 15, 1915 in Crown Point, the daughter of Wells and Helen (Woodcock) Ainsworth. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1933”.
Kathryn retired from P.R. Mallorys in 1983, where she had worked for 17 ½ years, she had previously worked at the Angwell Curtain Factory for 12 ½ years. She had been a volunteer at the Senior Center of Putnam County for 28 years.
She was a member of the Bainbridge United Methodist, Bible school and UMW; member of RSVP & its senior volunteer program & AARP; Putnam County Council on Aging, Area 7, Terre Haute, West Central programs on Aging, Council Treasurer for grand guardian council of Jobs Daughters. She volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program & Kitchen Band, Putnam County Family Support-Tots time, Heritage House Convalescent Center, Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Putnam County Food Pantry, breakfast with Santa, Storeroom, Headstart, and was in the movie Hoosiers.
She had the honor of receiving the Outstanding Service to the Community Award, Older Hoosier of the year, RSVP Ameritech Volunteer of the year, and nominated Snow Queen.
She is survived by her sons, Darrell Dean (Jeanne) Thompson of Centennial, CO, and Joel Jay (Ellie) Thompson of Bainbridge, daughter, Glenda Kay (Jim) Nelson of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Derek, Vicki, Tony, Micky, Angela, Wesley, and Jayme; great grandchildren, Karen, Devin, Nathan, A.J.,Ashley, David, Josele, Spensor, Zachary, Tyler, Kendal, Kennadie, Carlin, Riley, and Desmond.
She married her husband, Glenn Thompson on September 22, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Karen Thompson and her parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to the Bainbridge United Methodist Church or the Senior Center of Greencastle
