Obituary of Larry Dean Harris
Larry D. Harris of Greencastle passed away Monday afternoon at home. He was 77. He was born October 28, 1941 in Cloverdale, Indiana to the late Robert and Marjorie (Turner) Harris. Larry graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1959 and later married Madonna (Hurst) Harris on June 30, 1979, who survives. Throughout the years he worked for the Banner Graphic newspaper, the Tribune newspaper in Bloomington, numerous construction contractors, and retired from Fleetwood Travel Trailers in Crawfordsville. After retirement he worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and played an important role in the recent renovation of the Mansfield Mill. Larry enjoyed family time, woodworking in his shed, watching Indianapolis Colts football and old western movies, and anything John Wayne. He was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church and Alcoholics Anonymous. He recently celebrated 40 years of sobriety! Larry was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Madonna Harris, son Randy (Marty) Harris of Florida; a step-son Jim (Cammie) Cody; two step-daughters Brenda (Mike) McClaine and Tamie (Joe) Luckett; grandsons Casey, Matt, Ryan, Luke, and Ben; granddaughters Meghan, Olivia, Nikole, and Meisha; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Kristi Cook. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00pm on Monday, Dec. 10th at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home at 602 E Washington St., Greencastle. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery following the service.
