Robert O. Patton

Born April 27, 1927 in Putnam County, he was the son of Robert D. and Vivian A. (Owens) Patton. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School “class of 1945” and had attended DePauw University. He married Wanda J. (Oler) Patton on September 21, 1946 and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2008.

He had served in the United States Navy during WWII.

Robert had been a shop technician for I.B.M. in Greencastle for 33 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Raccoon Methodist Church, Raccoon,IN, the V.F.W. Post #1550, and the American Legion Post #58, both of Greencastle.

Survivors include his daughters, Pamela S. (David) Sutherlin of Cloverdale, and Lori A. (Bob) Thompson of Newport Richey, FL; a son, Robert Dale (Anita) Patton of Winchester, VA; three grandsons, Brandon (Katie) Bennett of Greencastle, Kenneth (Rachael) Patton of Shippensburg, PA, and Keith (fiancee’ Stephanie Kennedy) Patton of York Springs, PA; four great grandchildren, Jolene Patton, Luke Patton, Ella Patton, and Jimmy Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Turner officiating. Interment will follow with military rites at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 pm on Saturday until time of service.
