Almeta J. Himes, 63, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Wesley Long Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on August 8th, 1955 in Cheraw, SC, the daughter of Josh and Doretha Hardison. She graduated from Bowman High School in Wadesboro in 1973 and worked at The Family Dollar Distribution Center in Charlotte until March, 1999 and later at AT&T wireless in Greensboro. Most importantly, Almeta dedicated her life and was Baptized on July 3, 2004 as one of Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses.
Almeta was preceded in death by her father, Josh Hardison; siblings, Josh Hardison, Jr., Jack Hardison and Horace Hardison. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 21 years, Sherman G. Himes of the home; daughters, Shameika Harper (Anthony) of Raleigh, NC and Ametra Johnson of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren; Kaneisha, Michael, Harmony, Kamran and one great grandchild, Londyn; siblings, Clara Kendall, Sarah Mosley, Myrtle Ward, Eula Rush (Richard), Johnny Hardison, Lessie Sharp (James), Jessie Hardison (Sharon), Mary Ellen Lindsey, Lora Gayle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Almeta always placed her God and family first and they were the center of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial of her life will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel located at 6000 W. Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407.
