

Greensboro- Anthony Lorraine Hobbs, 64, passed away at Hospice Home of High Point after a lengthy illness. Graveside services to celebrate Tony’s life will be at 2pm, December 8 at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 3, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel.
Tony was born in Kannapolis to the late Paul and Erma Abernathy Hobbs. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. After the service he became a machinist and not only could he work with metal but he was a talented wood worker as well and loved to create walking canes. Horticulture was one of his avid interests and he was a skilled nature and floral photographer for which he won numerous awards. He enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, walking and hiking. He was a man of strong Christian faith which he and his family believes kept his spirits and attitude uplifted during his illness. Tony never complained and remained strong through his struggles. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was caring and helpful to others and a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He truly loved and missed his constant canine companion, Tanner.
He leaves behind his loving wife of almost thirty years, Lisa Rochester Hobbs of the home; children, Crystal Williams of Salisbury, Anthony Hobbs, Jr., Jeremy Hobbs of Greensboro, Sarah Hobbs of Rural Hall and David Hobbs of Greensboro; sister, Paula Skidmore; brothers, Phillip and Tim Hobbs; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Boone and James Williams.
