Barbara Jane Roscher

5 March, 1925 – 12 March, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home

Barbara Jane Roscher, a woman of grace, resilience, and enduring devotion to her family, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, just one week after celebrating her 101st birthday.

Born on March 5, 1925, Barbara lived over a century that was marked by her quiet strength, steadfast values, and deep personal connections. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Roscher II, who predeceased her in 1996. Paul was a husband, father, and distinguished B-17 bomber pilot in World War II who flew more than 30 successful missions before being shot down, and later escaping from a German prisoner-of-war camp -- an extraordinary story of courage and resilience that remained an important part of the family's legacy.

Barbara was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Roscher III, a proud Navy veteran who passed away in 1988.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Judith Wilson, Sue Ann Dougherty, and Paula Tidd, with her husband Tom. Barbara's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Betsy Mayer (Jason), Charlie Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Emily Anderson (Brad), Katherine Cone (Daniel), Jon Tidd (Kathleen) and Stephen Tidd. Barbara was also a cherished great-grandmother to: Wil and Owen Mayer, Morgen and Isabelle Anderson, Max and Milo Cone, and Mason, Miles and Alice Tidd.

Barbara also has a surviving close personal friend, Marcia Wooten, whose grace, patience, kindness, and compassion were beyond exemplary, and greatly appreciated by the entire family.

Barbara's life was centered on her family. She offered unwavering support, wisdom, and love across generations, creating a foundation that will endure well beyond her lifetime. Those who knew her will remember her for her dignity, warmth, and quiet strength with which she lived through a century of profound change. Her family finds comfort in the richness of her long life and in the many memories she leaves behind.

She will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
