A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Service in the Lineberry Center, 515 North Elm Street, Rev. Gene Dean will be officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 North O’Henry Boulevard.
Bill was born October 26, 1932, in Guilford County, NC, son of the late Thomas Henry and Sarah Ethel Wheeler. He proudly served his country while in the United States Army. After many years of service, Bill retired from Cone Mills, White Oak Plant. He was an avid golfer, fisher and bowler and a very talented artist.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Allen Winfree. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stutts Wheeler; daughters, Susan Wheeler Chambless and husband, Steve, Robin Wheeler Winfree, Serena Wheeler Simmons and husband, Tom; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and brother, James B. Wheeler and his wife, Marion. Also surviving is his, niece, nephews and cousins.
The family expresses their gratitude to the nursing staff of Wesley Long Hospital for the care given to Bill.
