Mrs. Carol Eller Rogers

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Lawndale Baptist Church officiated by Marion Boling, Senior Adult Pastor of Lawndale Baptist Church. Committal services will follow at Westminster Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Carol was born May 3, 1930 the second of six children to Harvey Doughton Eller, Sr. and Minnie Pardue Eller. Carol worked at Smithey’s store in Elkin while attending Ronda High School where she graduated in 1947 as valedictorian of her class. She moved to Greensboro in 1948 and was a dedicated employee of Sears and Roebuck Department 170 for 37 years. In 1965 Carol married Joseph Rogers and they devoted much of their married lives to serving the Lord. She was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church and for more than twenty years, taught Sunday School while also teaching at Bessemer Baptist Church. She is warmly remembered by Lawndale members for her work with children along with many family and friends for her special birthday calls and cards. She had a very generous spirit and a giving heart. She enjoyed visiting the sick and delivering home-cooked meals to many. All the years of her life, the Lord blessed her with an excellent memory that amazed everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed by all those who loved her.

Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph S. Rogers, her sister, Argyle Faye Redmond, and brothers; Benjamin Samuel Eller, and H. D. “Bill” Eller, Jr.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her brother, John James Eller and wife, Barbara, sister, Elizabeth Eller, sisters-in-law; Brenda Eller, Betty Eller, brother-in-law, Glenn Redmond. She was also blessed with two nieces, eight nephews and an abundance of great-nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who gave her special care during her illness especially to Christy and Cheyenne Foster.
