

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2 P.M.. on Sunday March 28, 2010 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road. Casey Kirkman, (Catherine Kirkman’s grandson) will officiate the service and the burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
She was born in Montgomery County, NC, on May 17, 1927, to Christopher Wilson Greene and Connie Mae Thompson Greene. She was later adopted by Arlen and Mattie Albertson Cox.
She spent her formative years in Climax NC. While in high school she met her husband, Howard Leon Kirkman Sr. She married her high school sweetheart June 16, 1946 and they were married for 63 years.
She was a member of First Evangelical EMC in Greensboro.
Catherine was retired from Wesley Long Hospital and also worked many years for Dover Elevator. She had great compassion for animals. She especially loved Muffin, Ruby, Daniel, Ariel, Peanut and MaMa Cat.
She is survived by her children: Catherine Suzette Pressley, Howard Leon Kirkman Jr., wife Yolanda, Paul David Kirkman, wife, Anita, Jonathan Wade Kirkman, wife, Dianne, and Kevin Mark Kirkman, Sr., wife Shelley, seventeen grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Leon Kirkman Sr., her parents and adopted parents, her brothers, Earl, Bill, Carver, Woodrow, Eli, June, Arthur and Elizabeth.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 7 until 9 P.M. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road.
The family would like to thank Tara, Mary, Leslie and Abraham of Golden Living Starmount for the wonderful care they gave Mrs. Kirkman.
