

Charles "Charlie" Neal Apple, Jr., 71, a resident of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was born in Guilford County, the son of the late Charles Neal Apple, Sr. and Mozelle Griswold Apple. Charlie graduated from Grimsley High School and attended Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. He began his furniture training with Miller Desk then opened his own company, Generation One. He and his family owned and operated for over 30 years Metafab Industries in High Point selling to the major furniture manufacturers. Charlie never met a stranger and leaves behind many lifelong friends. Charlie was currently a member and president of the Gate City Kiwanis Club. Enjoyed friends & golfing at Sedgefield Country Club where he served as inside Vice-President during the renovation. He with a handful of friends began The Society of Bacchus that grew beyond their expectations and survives today. He was a member of Florida Street Baptist Church. His love for the water was as great as his smile and laugh, he touched the lives of many. He loved people, meeting new friends as he traveled and always wanting to learn about new places. He spent his summers at the family's beach home, boating or fishing. Charlie is survived by his wife, Suzette Poe Apple of the home; two sons, Brian Apple and wife Kristina of Wilmington, Shane Apple and wife Sonnet of Monrovia, CA; one sister, Carolyn Apple Rees of Southport; one brother, Steve Apple of Oak Island and two grandchildren, Emma Apple and Ethan Apple. There will be a gathering of family and friends Sunday, April 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charlie's memory to the Gate City Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 10331, Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Operation Smile.
