

Charles C. Hicks, 72, beloved husband, father and grandfather died of complications of Parkinson ’s disease on May 26, 2017 at Guilford Health Care. He served his country in the US Air Force. Following his military service, he worked with Duke Energy and retired with 32 years of service. Before his illness, he was active in several organizations including Central Carolina RC Modelers and playing French horn in four bands, including Gate City Horizons Band.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Donald. Surviving is his loving wife Norma S. Hicks; children, Mark (Elizabeth) Hicks of Sterling, VA, Sara (Jeff) Hudson of Greensboro, Kenny (Michelle) of Peoria, AZ; stepchildren, Angela (John) Spencer and Kristina (Chris) Kearns of Greensboro; grandchildren, Kai Peter of Germany, Griffin Hicks of Sterling, VA, Nathan Hudson, Logan Hudson, Eden Hudson, Taylor Bridges, Ali Dunlap, Kirsten Anast, Lucy Kearns, Gabbi Spencer and Vicky Spencer, all of Greensboro; and brother, Michael Hicks of Summerville, SC.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 11:00 am at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel and burial with full military rites at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
