Charles Raymond Hill, Jr., age 78, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital after a brief illness. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Raymond Hill, Sr. and Annie Laurie Vannoy Hill and his sister-in-law, Margaret McCarthy.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen McCarthy Hill; daughter, Katherine "Katie" Hill and son, Charles "Chad" Hill III all of Greensboro; sister, Judy Prince of Cincinnati, OH; and nieces Katherine Prince, Sarah (Glenn) Carlson and Julie (Dan) Weber; brothers-in-law, Brian McCarthy, Timothy (Debbie) McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy; sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Drew) Ober; and nieces, Connor Ausbourn, Gillian, Maggie and Erin Ober.
Charlie served for 36 years in the Guilford County School System as a teacher, counselor, CAPS Director, and Assistant Principal at various GCS high schools. He was awarded NC Counselor of the Year during his career. He was known for his outgoing personality and loved and respected by his students and colleagues.
Charlie never met a stranger. He loved the beach and beach music and was an excellent shag dancer. Charlie and Eileen enjoyed entertaining at home. He was regarded as the chef extraordinaire and grill master. Between his grilling expertise and her love of excellent food they provided their guests with quite the dining experience.
Charlie will be remembered as a compassionate and loyal person who loved his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Charlie's memory to the Loyalty Fund at Guilford College (guilford.edu) or to tunnel2towers (t2t.org.)
