Clyde was born on September 27, 1946 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years following high school. After his years of service he met and married the love of his life, Penny Gale Fulk. Clyde’s career included 39 years with the Federal Aviation Administration in Air Traffic Control Management and was followed by 10 years working at the Greensboro Country Club where he enjoyed socializing with members of the golf club.
Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a patient, kind, and honorable man of Christian faith. A man that dearly loved his family and cherished the times spent together. To know him was to love him, he had a sweet spirit, fun loving, and selfless way about him and we will miss him deeply.
Clyde Brooks is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Penny Brooks, children Chris Brooks (Leslie), Lori Holyfield (Jimmy), Michael Brooks (Tim Tunner), and grandchildren, Alaina Stack, Jenna Brooks, Noah Stack, Spencer Brooks; his sister Ann Smith and brother Paul Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William M. Brooks and Grace T. Brooks, and brothers David Brooks and Ronald Brooks.
A Service to celebrate Clyde’s life will be held on Thursday, 12:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 11:00-12:00 prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. As a safety precaution the family requests that you please wear a mask.
