Cynthia V. Howard went to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Wesley Long Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1948 in Fayetteville, NC, the daughter of Walter Thomas and Marjorie Hardy Vick Jr.
Cynthia lost her mother when she was a young child. This was a loss she felt her entire life. This helped build her character of always putting her family and others first. She was a selfless person and always wanted to make sure other people were happy. She handled adversity and never lost her positive attitude about life. Cynthia showed us how to live and set the example for others to go by. One of her last acts of giving to others was donating her corneas so that someone else may have sight.
She received her Bachelors of Education at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. She taught school for a while. Her favorite occupation was operating the French Fox Boutique.
She was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. When she was diagnosed with cancer, a group of ladies formed a prayer group at the church and met each week to pray for her. She was very touched by these ladies.
Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dennis G. Howard; two sons, J.D. Howard and wife Lindsey of Raleigh, NC and Joel Howard and wife Tara of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Baylor and Hayes Howard and Hutson and Jude Howard; three brothers, Walter Thomas Vick III and wife Peggy, Mark Vick and wife Beth and Todd Vick and wife Jenny and sister, DeNise Vick
A Service to Celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 2:00 p.m. at Jamestown United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Memorials may be made in Cynthia’s memory to Multiple Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, N. Hollywood, CA 91607
