Daisy was born in 1935, in Granby, Missouri, the fifth of six daughters of Anderson and Nellie (Gates) Snow. After graduation from Granby High School, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where she received a degree in Education and where she met her beloved Aaron, a doctoral student in Psychology. They married in 1956 and their two children, Jill and Greg, were born while in Columbia. Daisy spent the next few years in Tallahassee, Florida, and Tempe, Arizona, enjoying the life of faculty wife and mother. In 1968 she and her family arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina, where Aaron had taken a teaching position at UNCG.
While living in Greensboro, Daisy spent 19 years working for the North Carolina Humanities Council, a job she loved. After her retirement, she did substitute teaching, volunteered at HealthServe Ministry, traveled extensively, joined the Monday Morning Forum book club, played tennis and bridge and continued dancing with the Company Shop Cloggers of Burlington.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Aaron, her parents, and sisters Ruth Organ and Grace Peregoy.
Those left to smile at her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tim Freeman, of Raleigh; her son, Gregory Brownstein, of Winston-Salem; sisters Ruby Brown, Dorothy Cupps, and Sue Ferguson, all of Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Daisy’s wish to forego a memorial service is being honored by her family and friends. An informal gathering to remember and celebrate her memory will be held at the Friends Homes in early 2026.
