Dorothy Helton Bean

Dorothy Faye Helton Bean, 84, of Greensboro, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at her daughter, Rita’s residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Harvey Lee Bean, who passed in 2001. Born on March 27, 1940 in Hawkins County, TN, she was one of 10 children of the late Govenor and Mae Soloman Helton.

Dorothy was a seamstress and loved sewing for her family, friends and clients. She was an amazing cook and if you left the table hungry it was your own fault. Dorothy had a circle of close friends that she enjoyed going out to eat and spending Friday nights with. She was an active member of Church Street Baptist Church and loved her Lord and her church family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Bean; two daughters, Crystal Wood and Brigitte Gann; and 8 siblings.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Rita Shoffner (Thomas), Teresa Evans (Jeff), and Kennie Bean (Patricia); 8 grandchildren, Danny, Laura, Heather, Amy, Dion, Jason, Jonathan, and Allie; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Maggie McNeal; and numerous other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel with Pastor Tim Huffman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
