Edna Mae Cheek Schmidt, of Greensboro, died Monday morning, May 6, 2013. She was born June 9, 1927. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Daniel (Bill) and a son, Richard R. Hestwood, II (Joyce) and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schmidt and a daughter, Becky Cone. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Meeting Room of Countryside Village Retirement Community, 7700 US Hwy 158, Stokesdale, NC 27357. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation HQ, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, NY, NY, 10004.
