OBITUARY

Edward Blair Webster

31 August, 1949 – 26 March, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home

“I’ve been down this road before. I remember ever tree. Every single blade of grass. Holds a special place for me. And I remember every town and every hotel room. And every song I ever sang on a guitar out of tune … How I miss you in the morning light like roses miss the dew.” - ‘I Remember Everything’ by John Prine

Edward “Blair” Webster, 76, died at home on March 26, 2026. He was held close by his wife and daughters as he made this transition.

Blair loved his children, Lauren and her husband Josh, Amanda and her partner Mike. He had a special place in his life and heart for his granddaughter, Julia. His wife of 47 years, Susan, was his best friend, confidant, and biggest supporter. Their years of partnership are proof of profound, unconditional love.

Music was a constant source of joy. Playing and sharing music with friends and his son-in-law, Josh, was something Blair loved to do. He played multiple instruments, and his interests spanned genres. In his final days, it continued to be a source of comfort.

Something special he shared with granddaughter Julia was a love of birds. He found beauty in the combination of their songs and flight. We look forward to seeing him in every moment a bird perches calmly nearby.

He treasured his friends. He loved a great story and had a dry sense of humor that was uniquely him. An athlete in his youth, he loved basketball. Chess was an all-time favorite, and weekly matches were part of his time at home.

His daughters will miss him tremendously. To Lauren and Amanda, he passed on his openness and curiosity about the world. His unshakeable belief in them gave them strength to explore passions and take risks. His compassion and deep empathy for others is a legacy they will continue to carry with them.

Blair was a Type I diabetic for over 60 years and was profoundly resilient to the issues he faced and recoveries he had to make—some of which were life altering. Despite many challenges, he prioritized generosity towards others, making his friends and loved ones feel seen and cared for.

Blair was intelligent, handsome, creative, funny, inspiring, and will be so missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Deems and Marjorie Turner Webster, and brother, Lloyd Deems, Jr.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Russo for his years of support and care.

A celebration of Blair’s life will be planned later this spring.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org or P.O. Box 723 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or MusiCares at www.musicares.org/donations or MusiCares Development 3030 Olympic Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90404
