Edwin Wolfe Pearce, Jr. died peacefully Saturday, October 26, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, Nov. 4 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends following the service at the church in the Haywood Duke room.
Edwin was born on April 10, 1934, in Greensboro. He was the son of Edwin Wolfe Pearce and Frances Touhey Pearce. After graduating from Greensboro Senior High School, Edwin attended UNC Chapel Hill where he majored in business administration. Upon graduation he joined his father at Columbia Laundry and Drycleaning and was President from 1975 to 1996 when he sold the business.
Known for his gentle spirit and kindness toward others, Edwin was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing tennis or cards with friends, and spending time at the beach with his family and friends. His dance card was always full at the numerous social events he enjoyed attending. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Greensboro Kiwanis Club.
Jane Bradford Pearce, Edwin’s wife of 64 years passed away in August and he is survived by his son Edwin Wolfe Pearce, III and his wife Jackie of Greensboro and his daughter Polly Conley Pearce of Charlotte. He was blessed with three grandchildren Benjamin Powell Pearce of Greensboro, Dr. Jane Bradford Pearce of Houston, and Lucy Saunders Pearce of New York City. He is also survived by his loving sister Anne Pearce Archer of Mahopac NY and in-laws Dr. William Bradford and his wife Elise of Windemere Florida.
