A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, 1:00 pm at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Eleanor was born December 12, 1932 in Summerfield, North Carolina. She graduated from Summerfield High School where she played on the basketball team. She and her best friend Viola W. Smith spent many hours together in their youth. Eleanor spoke regularly through the years of their escapades and close bond as friends. On November 26, 1952 she married Eugene Green Suddreth, the love of her life.. Gene passed away in 1978 and later she married James Grant. It was then that Eleanor became a minister’s wife and accepted that role with great pride. She was devoted to her faith throughout her 86 years. Later in life she found comfort in her daily bible readings.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy Cox and husband Pat of Greenville; son, Dennis Suddreth and wife Betsy of Elizabeth City; daughter, Vickie McCorquodale and husband Benny of Falcon, son Mark Suddreth and wife Karen of Ocean Isle Beach; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters Mabel Self and Juanita Brady, both of Greensboro.
