Elizabeth "Lib" Dowd Martin

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 27, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Pastor Lee Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lib was a member of Florida Street Baptist Church for many years, retired from AT&T, was an incredible cook, enjoyed gardening, and loved to travel. She was a loving and devoted wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, but most of all, she was a wonderful mother. Lib loved her family unconditionally and was always there for them. All would agree that she left this world a better place than when she found it. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family. Lib was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maude Dowd; her husband of 33 years, Jesse Martin; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; and one grandchild.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Grace “Betsy” Davis and her husband Alan of Star, NC; sons, Sam Martin and his wife Gerri of Star, NC and Eddie Martin and his wife Kathy of Madison, NC; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
