

Mr. Elmer Clyde Hawley, 81, a resident of Greensboro died Wednesday morning April 20, 2011 at his home. Mr. Hawley was born August 11, 1929 in Lee County a son of William F. and Mary Elsie Maddox Hawley. He was the former Water Superintendant for the City of Sanford and retired after 25 years with Southern Meter and Supply Co. in Greensboro. He was a member of the Sanford Moose Lodge and the Sanford V.F.W. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hawley was a member for the past 42 years at Pinecroft Baptist Church and also served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tim Hawley and a sister, Hildred Ammons.
On June 10, 1950 he was married to the former Iva Ann Brooks who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Pam H. Fear and husband Jim of Jamestown; one son, Eddie R. Hawley of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Beth Collins of Sanford, Avis Knight and husband George of Reidsville; three grandchildren, Adam and Dana Fear, Erin F. Parker and husband Jeff and a great grandchild, MacKenzie Parker.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by the Reverend Jack Morris. Interment with military honors by the Randolph Co. Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until service time.
