Ms. Evelyn Landrum, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Olive, Alabama on June 6th, 2019. Ms. Landrum was born February 25, 1935 in Etowah, Tennessee the daughter of Ross and Della Shoemaker. Evelyn grew up in Greensboro and attended Greensboro Senior High. She spent many years as a resident of Miami, Florida where she worked with General Development Corporation until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Walbert Thomas Shoemaker, Edward Lee Shumaker, Neal Dennis Shoemaker and two nephews Edward (E.L.) Shumaker and Wayne Albright. Surviving are sisters, Kathleen Albright, Frances Sessoms, Maxine Jennings and brother Bobby Shumaker; daughter Teresa (Gerald) Moore; son Danny Forrest; four granddaughters Tammy (Ben) Short, Tracy (Heath) Calvert, Tanya Forrest (Bill) Griffin and Sandra Forrest; eight great-grandchildren Connor, Carly, Carter, Kristen, Katie, Kenzie, Brandon and Isaac and many loving nieces and nephews.
Evelyn lived her life to the fullest. She loved serving others at Shumaker’s Country Store where she greeted people with her warm smile and welcoming “Good morning, Hon!”. Evelyn was full of adventure; she loved to fish, never turned down an opportunity to play a game of cards and was always willing to try her luck.
She enjoyed decorating for Christmas, hosting large yard sales and playing Pinochle with her sisters until the wee hours of the morning.
Evelyn was a devoted “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and found great joy celebrating their milestones. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel officiated by the Reverend Eugene Dean. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
